Tuileries Christmas market / Place de la Concore market / Champs Elysees market

This is a Christmas market with many names, and it is the most popular of all the Christmas markets in Paris. It is beautifully located in the city center and it stretches from Place de la Concorde towards the Louvre, making it impossible to miss.

At the market, you will normally find a giant Ferris wheel, and that might be the first thing you see as you walk towards the market. As you walk closer, you will feel the smell of French pancakes (crepes), something you can buy from lots of stalls at the Christmas market. It is also possible to buy grilled cheese and other local snacks, combined with warm and cold drinks.

Would you rather buy some French handicrafts? There are lots of handmade products for sale at the market. Even more important is to bring a camera, because you can take fantastic pictures of Santa Clauses in all sizes, the giant Ferris wheel, reindeer, and other Christmas objects.

Below you can see a map showing some great hotels and apartments near Place de la Concorde in France. You can also see examples of prices for one night in the different places. If you don’t like moving around in big crowds, you might feel like this Christmas market is too crowded. We have warned you. The same is true about the Christmas market by the Eiffel Tower.

La Defense Christmas market

The second largest Christmas market in Paris and one you shouldn’t miss! But if you don’t know about it, you are most likely to miss it. In other words, get on metro line 1 in Paris and travel to the station named La Défense. There you will discover one of the most amazing Christmas markets in Paris where you can buy fantastic Christmas presents, taste traditional French food, and also take stunning pictures of the giant buildings surrounding the Christmas market lighted up with lasers and all sorts of lamps.

There are more than 150 stalls in the area, there are stages where DJs perform live, Santa Claus is ready for a photo session with your kids, and there are other events available for kids throughout the Christmas season. In other words, this is a Christmas market worth visiting as you come to Paris before, during, or after Christmas.

Besides the markets above, there are normally nice Christmas markets by the Eiffel tower, on Place de la Bastille, by the City Hall, and several other places.

Hotel de Ville Christmas market

This is a magical Christmas market in the center of Paris. It is located in front of the building Hotel de Ville (which isn’t a hotel), and it is decorated with lots of Christmas trees and beautiful lights. As a consequence, it is especially beautiful in the evenings.

There is normally a small carousel there for children, while adults can buy jewelry, soaps, souvenirs, purses, and other presents while eating some French crepes, waffles, soups, or maybe a kebab. The most popular drink is the hot wine, normally referred to as vin chaud.

The best way to visit the market is by using the metro. The nearest metro station is Hôtel de Ville.

As you can see above, the Christmas market by Hotel de Ville has a magical atmosphere in the evenings.

Christmas market by Notre-Dame.

The Christmas market by Notre-Dame is a much smaller Christmas market in Paris. It feels very authentic, and many people fall in love with it. It doesn’t feel as modern as the others, and maybe that gives the market the charm so many people love.

This market normally keeps open for about two weeks in December, meaning you must be lucky to catch it, because it has much shorter opening times than the other Christmas markets.

If you first visit the market, do not forget to drink some hot chocolate, vin chaud, and tea. As you probably know already, everything is better if you accompany it with something else, so why not order some pretzels, a sausage, or some roasted chestnuts besides the hot drink?

If you want to travel to the Christmas market in front of Notre-Dame, the nearest metro station is Saint-Michel Notre-Dame.

Alsation Christmas market (L’Alsace Fête Noel).

This is not about playing, nor about Christmas presents… this is a market for those who want to taste and drink. The Christmas market is all about food and about food at its best. In other words, if you want to celebrate Christmas in your mouth, this is the place to go.

The Christmas market is arranged by the train station Gare de L’Est, which means the nearest metro station carries the name of the railway station.

The market normally opens at the start of December and remains open for a couple of weeks, closing approximately one week before Christmas.

Montmartre Christmas market.

You are probably planning to visit the fantastic Sacre C’our while in Paris. Why don’t you combine it with a fantastic Christmas market experience as you walk around exploring the Abbesses/Montmartre Christmas Market? This feels like a village of its own during this period of the year, making it an experience to remember.

You can buy all the traditional stuff as you visit this Christmas market, but be aware that you need to climb almost 200 steps if you travel by metro to Abbesses before you reach the actual Christmas market. As a result, this is probably the most healthy Christmas market in Paris!

Saint Germain des Pres Christmas market.

Have you still got some energy left in your legs and money left in your wallet? The Christmas market by Boulevard Saint-Germain, next to the church Saint Germain des Pres, might be worth a visit, even though you will not miss out on a lot if you skip it.

You can buy the traditional drinks at this market and, of course, buy pancakes, waffles, chestnuts, and other delicious snacks that smells terrific (and the taste isn’t any worse than the smell).

The best way to visit the Christmas market is by using the metro and leave it at the station Saint-Germain-des-Prés.
