Les Invalides, The National Residence of the Invalids, was built in classicist style by Louis XIV. to increase his power and to build a strong army. They started the construction work in 1671 and the work lasted for four years. In 1679 they later built a church for the veterans and in 1706 the dome built in honor of the Sun King (Eglise du Dóme). This can easily be recognized because of the dome covered with gold.
Today this is a quiet and elegant part of Paris where you can find mostly wealthy French people living.
